NL driver’s permit practice test

This NL driver’s permit practice test has 20 free questions, written from the Newfoundland and Labrador Driver’s Handbook. Seven of them show a sign or signal light. Motor Registration’s pass mark for the real written test is 85%, which here is 17 of 20. Pick an answer to see why it’s right.

Question 1 of 20

You hold a Class 5I learner’s licence. When are you not allowed to drive?

20 practice questions in the style of the written test.

How close is this NL driver’s permit practice test to the real one?

Motor Registration says the written test has questions about the rules of the road, safe driving practices and road sign recognition, and that 85% is a pass. It doesn’t say how many questions there are. This NL driver’s permit practice test covers the same three areas in 20 questions.

The questions are ours, not Motor Registration’s. Each answer comes from the handbook, so a good score means you’re on track, not that you’ll pass for sure.

What to study after these 20 questions

The handbook says the test questions are based on it and on the Highway Traffic Act and its regulations. Its first four chapters cover licensing, road safety, signs and markings, and the rules of the road. Go back to the section behind every question you missed.
