Where can you get the PEI driver’s handbook?

Download the PDF, or buy a printed copy: the driver’s handbook is on Highway Safety’s fee list. The permit page says it’s also available in Arabic, Chinese and French.

Chapter 1 sets out the tests and the Stage 1 rules, and chapters 2 to 4 hold the rules of the road and the signs.

Check licensing rules on the web pages too

The PDF prints “Revised: Spring 2011” on its credits page. Highway Safety’s web pages on licence classes and the Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) program carry dates from 2024 and 2025, and in places their licensing details differ from the handbook. For a Class 5 licence, for example, the handbook gives a minimum age of 17, and the classes page says 16.

So for fees and licensing rules, go by the web pages. For the rules of the road and the signs, the handbook is the source.
