What does Highway Safety PEI do?
The handbook (Spring 2011) says Highway Safety is responsible for driver licensing, vehicle registration and inspection, and runs these courses for drivers:
- The Novice Driver Course, for permit holders who aren’t in driver education
- The Driver Rehabilitation Course, after a conviction such as impaired driving
- The Driver Improvement Course, after a demerit point suspension
PEI has no office called a DMV: licences, tests and registration are Highway Safety’s work, done at Access PEI. This page covers the licence side.
