DVSA HGV test centres and test stations

You’ll find DVSA HGV test centres by postcode on GOV.UK. DVSA is the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, and these centres hold the tests for heavy goods vehicle (HGV) drivers. You’ll use two different finders, because theory tests and practical tests happen at different centres. The driving test finder tells you what types of test you can take at each centre, so check it lists lorries or buses before you plan around it.

Finding an HGV theory test centre near you

Enter your postcode in GOV.UK’s finder and it lists your nearest centres. The booking service then lets you pick one, and you can move to a different centre later with at least 3 full working days’ notice.

Is there a list of HGV driving test centres?

GOV.UK’s finders work by postcode, not from a list. The nearest thing is DVSA’s statistics, which name 120 sites for category C, C1, CE and C1E on-road tests between April 2025 and March 2026. Some are training companies, so the data shows where tests were held, not where you can book, and it has no addresses. DVSA also leaves out any site where only one examiner did that kind of test.

If you’re looking for an HGV test station

On GOV.UK, a test station is about the vehicle, not the driver. It’s where a lorry, bus or trailer goes for its MOT, also called the annual test. That happens at a private authorised testing facility (ATF), and in Scotland you can phone DVSA for a DVSA test station if there’s no ATF near you.

Passing that MOT has nothing to do with your licence or your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC). This course only covers the driver’s tests.
