HESI exam test dates: how to find a time slot

There’s no national calendar. Each school sets its own HESI exam test dates as time slots in its HESI course, and you see them when you open its registration link. For a Prometric center or ProProctor exam, you pick the exact date and time in Prometric’s ProScheduler after you register.

How do schools set HESI exam test dates?

A school creates an exam group and adds time slots to it. It can add slots at any point, even on the day of testing, for up to a year after it created the group. Elsevier suggests that schools with rolling admissions keep adding slots as they go, week by week or the day before testing.

So if you don’t see a date that suits you, check the link again later or ask your school when it adds new slots. For a ProctorU exam, your school sets a testing window instead, and Elsevier advises no more than six months for the A2.

Plan back from your application deadline

  1. Ask your school for its deadline, its test dates and the score it wants.
  2. If you need accommodations, ask first. Elsevier says approval can take up to six weeks, and you shouldn’t book before you have it.
  3. For a Prometric booking, pick a date you can keep.
  4. Allow about 24 hours for your results to show up.
  5. If your school allows retakes, leave room for one before the deadline.

If no date works

Already paid and need a different day? You can switch to another open time slot in your HESI course. If none is open, contact your school. To change a booked slot, see our registration page.

Before you test somewhere else to get an earlier date, check that your school accepts it.
