PTE Academic reading: five question types

Part 2 takes about 23 to 30 minutes and has five question types, all on texts you read on screen. In PTE Academic reading you get two kinds of fill in the blanks, two kinds of multiple choice and Reorder Paragraph. Your reading score also picks up points from tasks in the other two parts.

The reading question types

In Drag and Drop, the word box has more words than there are gaps, so some are never used.

Where guessing costs you

  • Summarize Written Text, in Part 1, counts for reading and writing.
  • Highlight Correct Summary and Highlight Incorrect Words, in Part 3, count for listening and reading.
