PTE results: when they come and how long they last

When does the PTE test result come out?

Pearson aims to release results within five business days and says they’re typically ready in two. If it’s been five working days or less, wait for the email. After that, check your junk or spam folder, then use Pearson’s help centre form if there’s still nothing.

How to check your PTE result

1. Sign in at mypte.pearsonpte.com.
2. Go to My Activity.
3. Select View Score next to your test.
4. To keep a copy, choose View as PDF.

That PDF is for you. Universities and governments don’t accept printed or PDF score reports. They check your score online with the Score Report Code (SRC) printed on it.

Sending your scores

• From My Activity, choose Send Scores and pick up to seven recipients at a time. It’s free, with no limit on how many.
• It takes around 48 hours before an institution can see a score you’ve sent.
• If you ticked the Home Affairs or Immigration New Zealand box when you booked, they already have it.
• For a UK visa, PTE Academic UKVI reports carry a SELT Unique Reference Number for your application form.

How long is PTE Academic valid?

Two years from the date you take the test, and you should send your scores within that time. Pearson’s handbook says Home Affairs accepts scores assigned up to three years after your test date. Universities and other bodies can set their own limits, so check theirs.

Scores from tests before the August 2025 changes are still valid. For Canadian immigration, IRCC wants PTE Core results under two years old.

Rescoring and retakes

You can pay for a rescore. Only spoken answers and open written answers are rescored, and the score can go down as well as up. Pearson says your overall score is unlikely to change. A technical review, if you think a recording problem hurt your speaking, checks the audio but can’t change your score.

You can book a retake as soon as you have this result.
