How do you get your L’s through myLs?
Service SA sets out three steps:
- Enrol at any Service SA centre. Take your evidence of identity and an email address that isn’t a school one. You’ll have your photo taken, get a mySAGOV account, download the mySAGOV app and pay the $44 enrolment fee.
- Do the course and pass the test. Log in to mySAGOV in a web browser, not the app, choose Launch myLs and then Start.
- Apply for your L’s once you’re 16. In mySAGOV, choose Apply for a learner’s permit, confirm your details, answer the eligibility questions and pay the permit fee. Then add the digital permit in the app.
You can download and email yourself the receipt and a temporary permit. The card should arrive in the post within 3 weeks. If it doesn’t, phone Service SA on 13 10 84: after 30 days you may need to pay a $22 replacement fee.
The test at the end of the course
The myLs test is the final stage of the course. It has 30 questions and you need 27 right.
You have 12 months from the day you enrol to finish, and you can attempt the test as many times as you need in that time at no extra cost. My Licence says the course takes around 4 hours, with quizzes, activities and challenges throughout.
Who can do it
You must be at least 15 years and 9 months old to do the course, and 16 to apply for your permit.
Tips for using myLs
Service SA gives these device tips:
- Use a computer rather than a mobile phone for the best experience
- Log in through a web browser, not the mySAGOV app
- On Safari, unblock pop-ups by turning off Block Pop-ups in Settings
