RIBO exam questions to practise, with answers

Here are 20 free RIBO exam questions we wrote for the Level 1 exam of the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO). They follow the five domains in RIBO’s Level 1 Competency Profile and Blueprint, in about the same shares, and each has one correct answer and a short explanation. The real exam has 100 scored questions plus 15 pilot questions in three hours, so treat these as a quick check, not a mock exam.

Question 1 of 20

What does the principle of indemnity aim to do after an insured loss?

20 practice questions in the style of the exam.

How to use these 20 questions

Questions 1 to 5 are general insurance and industry knowledge, 6 to 10 personal auto, 11 to 15 habitational, 16 to 19 commercial lines and 20 travel health. That’s the blueprint’s 25, 25, 25, 20 and 5 out of 100, scaled down. The auto questions include the accident benefit changes of July 1, 2026, and one habitational question is a co-insurance calculation.

Aim for 15 right, which is 75%. That’s the same share as RIBO’s pass mark of 75 out of 100, though our questions aren’t RIBO’s.

Where can you find more RIBO exam questions?

RIBO posts a PDF of 79 retired questions from past exams, with review notes. RIBO says your score on them won’t predict your result, but they come from the real exam, so they’re worth doing after these.
