Which of these helps you save fuel in a lorry or bus?
20 practice questions in the style of the theory test.
Is this free HGV theory test practice like the real test?
The real part 1a has 100 questions in 1 hour 55 minutes, at a theory test centre. These 20 are ours, not DVSA’s, and they aren’t from its revision bank. We wrote them from the Driver CPC syllabus, Know Your Traffic Signs and GOV.UK’s rules for drivers, so they test the same kind of knowledge in different words.
The real questions draw on The Highway Code, Know Your Traffic Signs and DVSA’s guide to driving goods vehicles or buses and coaches. A good score here means you’re on track, not that you’ll pass. Hazard perception is a separate part, with 19 clips and 67 out of 100 to pass.
Then try the free mock tests
GOV.UK sends you to Safe Driving for Life for free mock tests, 2 for lorries and 2 for buses and coaches, each with 50 questions. GOV.UK says those questions aren’t used in the real test, but they’re based on the same topics. Once these 20 feel easy, a full mock is a good next step.
