ACCUPLACER Arithmetic: what’s on the test

The ACCUPLACER Arithmetic test has 20 multiple-choice questions on five areas: whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, and comparing numbers written in different forms. Each question stands on its own, and some are set in real-life situations. It’s scored 200 to 300, and your college decides what score places you into each math course.

What does ACCUPLACER Arithmetic cover?

AreaWhat it covers
Whole number operationsAdding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing, order of operations, estimating and rounding
Fraction operationsThe same operations with fractions and mixed numbers
Decimal operationsThe same operations with decimals
PercentagePercent of a number, percent increase and decrease, real-life percent problems
Number comparisons and equivalentsOrdering values in different forms, the number line, and spotting equal values, which tests mental math
