TSIA2 and ACCUPLACER: what Texas students take

If you’re enrolling at a public college or university in Texas, the placement tests you’ll take are TSIA2. TSIA2 and ACCUPLACER practice share one free College Board site, practice.accuplacer.org. You must complete a free Pre-Assessment Activity before you test, and some students don’t need to take TSIA2 at all.

Do you have to take TSIA2?

Not always. TSIA2 checks whether you’re ready for college-level reading, writing and math. You may be exempt if you’ve already met college readiness standards on a test such as the SAT, or completed a high school college preparatory course. Confirm with your college.

The Pre-Assessment Activity

  1. Create a free account at practice.accuplacer.org.
  2. Complete the Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA). It’s required before TSIA2 testing.
  3. Once it’s done, the free TSIA2 practice tests open up in your account.

Where is TSIA2 practice on the ACCUPLACER site?

On practice.accuplacer.org, the same College Board practice site ACCUPLACER uses. Once you’ve done the PAA, you get:

  • TSIA2 practice tests, after the PAA
  • TSIA2 Perspective Learning Resources, with hundreds of exercises
  • Sample questions, essay prompts and review materials

Remote testing, vouchers and results

TSIA2 can only be taken remotely through the Remote Live option. If you need a voucher, it comes from the school giving your test. Depending on your school, you may get results as soon as you finish.
