How many questions the Arkansas permit test has

ASP doesn't publish the total. Its study guide, its driver examination page and its practice test page give no question count and no pass percentage for the knowledge exam. The one number ASP has put in writing is in its instructions for oral testing, which mention 20 correct answers. Until ASP publishes a total, any number you see for how many questions are on the Arkansas permit test comes from a practice site, not the State Police.

What ASP's own papers say about the questions

ASP's instructions for oral testing, written for people with a learning difference, walk through the kiosk screen by screen. Each question has three answer choices, A, B and C. You may skip two questions, and skipped questions don't count against you. They move to the end of the test.

Then comes the line that matters: "If you get 20 correct answers before those questions return, you will not have to answer the skipped questions." The same sheet says you may see the skipped questions again if you need them to pass. It doesn't say how many questions there are in all, or what share of them 20 is. Those instructions are dated August 2017.

Is the Arkansas permit test 25 questions?

Not according to anything ASP publishes. The figure of 25 questions shows up on practice sites. Driving-Tests.org's Arkansas exam simulator, for one, uses 25 random questions. ASP's pages don't use that number, so treat any 25-question practice test as the site's own format.

How the questions are asked

You take the test on a computer kiosk at a State Police testing site. You confirm your date of birth, start the test, pick an answer, touch Submit Answer and then confirm it, so you get a chance to change your mind before it counts.

With the oral version, you press a speaker icon to hear the question and another next to each choice to hear the answers. The instructions also say that if you don't understand a word or sentence, you raise your hand, and the examiner can explain it in simpler terms.

Motorcycle and CDL tests are separate exams

If you don't already hold a Class D license, the study guide says you take the regular non-commercial knowledge exam first and then a separate motorcycle knowledge exam. Commercial licenses have their own knowledge tests, starting with the general knowledge test that every CDL applicant takes.
