How ARRT verification works
There are two ways to check:
- Search the online directory with at least a few letters of the person’s first and last names. Leave out titles and credentials; the search isn’t case-sensitive. You can print a copy of the result.
- Request verification on ARRT letterhead, by download, email or fax. You need two of these: the person’s Social Security number, date of birth or ARRT ID.
If someone isn’t in the directory, they may have asked to be left out, so try the letterhead request. People who have just taken an exam don’t appear until their score reports are final. For help, call ARRT and choose the option for renewal, reinstatement or continuing education.
ARRT doesn’t issue credential cards
ARRT tells employers not to accept a paper credential card as proof of certification and registration, because it doesn’t issue them. Use the directory or a letterhead verification instead.
Is ARRT license verification a state check?
No. ARRT verifies its own certification and registration, not state licenses. A license to practice is issued and verified by the state.
Checking for ethics sanctions
ARRT also publishes a Disciplinary Sanctioned List of people who have violated the ARRT Standards of Ethics. You can filter it by name, city, state and date, and print what you find. Privacy laws stop ARRT from showing details such as Social Security numbers, so if two people share the same details, ARRT asks you to call for more verification.
Proving your own ARRT status
Once your result is final, you can share your score report with employers or schools through a secure link from your ARRT account. ARRT’s records menu also lets you request a letter of certification and registration or a duplicate certificate.
