You reach a railroad crossing marked only with this sign. There are no lights or gates. What does the sign mean?
20 practice questions in the style of the written test.
How close is this Missouri permit practice test to the real one?
Same style, a little shorter. The Highway Patrol's written test is 25 multiple-choice questions on the laws and driving methods in the Driver Guide, and it isn't open book. The car test leaves out Chapter 15, which covers commercial vehicles. Signs get a test of their own on the same visit, so study the road signs page too.
There's no official list of Missouri permit test answers to memorize. The Driver Guide says every question comes straight from it and none of them are trick questions, so the guide is the thing to learn.
The Department of Revenue's sample questions
The Department of Revenue still hosts a sheet of 44 sample questions for the Class F and Class E tests, with an answer key. It says plainly that they aren't the real test questions. The sheet dates from 2015 and at least one answer is out of date: it gives the permit fee as $3.50, while the 2026 Driver Guide lists $10. Use it for rules of the road, and check anything about fees or ages against the current guide.
Practice for a CDL, motorcycle or Class E test
These 20 questions are for the regular Class F test. The CDL and motorcycle written tests come from their own manuals, and the Class E test adds Chapter 15 of the Driver Guide, so each has its own page.
