What it does and doesn't do
- It lets you drive in Nevada and register and insure a vehicle.
- It isn't valid as ID for benefits or federal purposes, such as boarding a plane, and it can't be used for commercial driving.
- Other states set their own rules on whether they honor it.
- No Social Security number is needed.

Identity can be one primary document such as a U.S. passport, a U.S. birth certificate or a Permanent Resident Card, one military or Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe ID, or two documents such as a foreign passport, a foreign birth certificate, a consular ID or another state's license. Foreign-language documents need a full translation from a DMV-approved translator. You also need two proofs of Nevada address.
