North Dakota DMV practice test

This North Dakota DMV practice test has 20 free questions written from NDDOT’s Noncommercial Driver License Manual, the 2025‑2027 edition. Five show a sign or signal. NDDOT doesn’t publish how many questions the real Rules of the Road test has or the score you need, so we use our own bar here: 16 of 20, which is 80%. Pick an answer to see why it’s right, and anything you miss comes back at the end.

Question 1 of 20

You have a North Dakota instruction permit. Who may sit beside you while you drive?

20 practice questions in the style of the knowledge test.

How close is this North Dakota DMV practice test to the real one?

The subject matter is the same, because the real test’s questions come from the same manual. The length and pass mark can’t match, since NDDOT publishes neither. These aren’t NDDOT’s questions either, so treat 80% here as a sign you’re on track, not a promise.

Several questions test North Dakota’s own numbers, such as the 25 mph slow-moving vehicle emblem and the 200 feet you need after passing. Those are the details a general practice test can get wrong.

Before you take the real test

KnowTo Drive isn’t a practice tool. Every try there is the real, paid test. Practice first, and reread any section of the manual you keep missing. The where-to-learn page has a study path through the manual and compares practice apps.
