Booking a Vermont DMV appointment

Book online at myDMV or call 888-970-0357. Every exam at a DMV office is by appointment only, and that includes the road test. You don't need a Vermont DMV appointment for the permit test, because you take it online. For other office services, the DMV's location pages say an appointment is recommended but not required.

How to book

  1. Go to mydmv.vermont.gov, or call 888-970-0357.
  2. If you have a condition such as epilepsy or insulin-treated diabetes, or have lost a limb or use a wheelchair, call the Driver Improvement Section at 802-828-2000 before you book an exam. It sends you a medical form for your doctor.
  3. If you need help getting into the building, say so when you book.
  4. If you're hearing impaired, ask for an interpreter when you schedule. Vermont Relay is 711.
  5. If you can't make it, cancel or reschedule as soon as you can, so the slot goes to someone else.

Road test days and bad weather

The DMV can cancel or postpone driving tests when the roads are bad. If that happens, call 802-828-2000 or use myDMV to rebook. At the office, an examiner may be out on a road test when you arrive, so you may wait a little.

Check your insurance card and registration before you leave home. Without both, there's no test. And if you drive to the office illegally, you won't be tested that day.
