AMC exam dates for the 2027 MCQ events

The Australian Medical Council (AMC) lists ten Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) events for 2027, the first from 15 to 18 February and the last from 15 to 18 November. These AMC exam dates are four-day windows at Pearson VUE test centres, and you pick your day and venue when you book. Scheduling for each event closes about three weeks before it starts.

Every event has the same dates for Australian and overseas venues. Results come out at 4.00pm on the Friday shown, in your AMC account. The AMC lists no January or December event for 2027, and it says it may add events during a year, so check its dates table before you plan.

Clinical dates aren’t in this table. Clinical exam places are released in scheduling events of their own; the clinical exam page has the 2027 release.

How to book an AMC MCQ event

  1. Apply for an MCQ authorisation in your AMC account and pay. You need a verified medical degree status first.
  2. Wait for Pearson VUE’s email confirming your authorisation. It lasts 12 months from payment, and the AMC doesn’t extend it.
  3. Book one event inside your authorisation, on Pearson VUE’s website or through its contact centres. Do it straight away, because some venues have few seats.
  4. Download the placement letter the AMC puts in your AMC account. It can help with a travel visa.

You can apply for only one exam at a time. If you’re booked into an MCQ event, you can’t apply for another until you have that result.

Where you can sit the exam

Pearson VUE runs the exam for the AMC at its test centres in Australia and other countries, picked for their security standards. Find a centre on Pearson VUE’s AMC page. The AMC says it has added centres in Myanmar, South Africa, Malaysia and Sri Lanka.

Pearson VUE is a US company that must follow sanctions enforced by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). If you live in a sanctioned country, it may not book you unless you can prove your main residence is elsewhere. On 14 September 2026 the AMC said Pearson couldn’t schedule or deliver exams for residents of Iran without that proof, and asked affected candidates to contact mcq@amc.org.au.

Changing or cancelling your booking

You can change your event or venue with Pearson VUE without penalty up to the closing date, if a seat is available. Pearson VUE puts this at 21 days before your exam. The AMC’s events page says no changes are accepted after the closing date, while its refund policy says you can ask the MCQ team at mcq@amc.org.au to reschedule up to 2 business days before the event.

If you don’t change or withdraw in time and don’t sit the exam, you lose the authorisation and the fee. On visas, the AMC’s FAQ says it won’t cancel an authorisation for visa issues or delays, while its refund policy considers unforeseen visa complications but not a late visa application. Pearson VUE advises rescheduling before the closing date if your visa may not arrive in time. The fees page has the grounds and amounts for a refund.
