Where can you get the NB drivers handbook?
On gnb.ca, as a set of PDFs. The handbook page lists each part with its file size, from 37 KB for Part 9 to 5.8 MB for Part 4. The same page has the Parental Consent Form you need if you’re under 18.
The French edition, the Manuel du conducteur pour le Nouveau-Brunswick, has its own page with the same nine parts. The handbook page lists PDFs only and doesn’t mention an audio edition. Service New Brunswick also lists the Driver’s Handbook for sale.
The nine parts of the handbook
The parts are listed by title on the handbook page:
- Part 1, Licensing of Drivers
- Part 2, Registration of Vehicles
- Part 3, Equipment
- Part 4, Traffic on the Highway: Rules of the Road
- Part 5, Safe Driving
- Part 6, Traffic on the Highway: Sharing the Road
- Part 7, Traffic Signs
- Part 8, What Every Motorcyclist Must Know
- Part 9, Information for Commercial Vehicle Drivers
The province doesn’t say which parts the written exam questions come from. Part 8 matters if you’re heading for a motorcycle licence, which has its own rules of the road exam, and Part 9 if you’re after a commercial class.
Other ways to study
The study page compares practice apps and driver training, the road signs page shows the signs, and the online test page covers taking the written exams at home.
