LNAT deadlines and test dates for 2027 entry

There are no set test dates. You book any day with a free slot at the centre you choose, as long as you sit the National Admissions Test for Law (LNAT) by each university’s deadline. For 2027 entry, the Oxford and Cambridge deadline was 15 October 2026. King’s College London, the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and University College London (UCL) want it sat by 31 December 2026, Bristol and Durham by 13 January 2027, and the other LNAT universities by 25 January 2027.

How LNAT deadlines work

A deadline is the last day you can sit the test and be sure your application will be considered. The LNAT Consortium tells you to register and sit as early as you can: it expects high demand for slots as deadlines get close, especially at city-centre centres in the UK.

Plan for the extra steps too. You pay when you book, and a voucher or bursary takes up to ten working days to arrive. For a voucher, LNAT says to allow a further two weeks on top.

Dates are from LNAT’s dates and deadlines page for the 2026/27 cycle. The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) deadlines on the same page are 15 October 2026 for Oxford and Cambridge and 6pm UK time on 13 January 2027 for the rest, with late UCAS applications from 16 January to 30 June 2027.

LNAT says late deadlines usually apply to international applicants only, and your universities may not accept a result from as late as July. Applicants to Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) can sit between 1 September 2026 and 15 March 2027 for its July 2027 intake.

Don’t sit the LNAT too early

You sit it in the same cycle as your UCAS application. LNAT’s dates page warns that a test taken before the summer holiday won’t count for 2026/27, and the 2026/27 testing began on 1 September 2026. If you’re applying now for deferred entry in 2028, you still sit it this cycle, as LNAT’s FAQs and LSE confirm. You can sit it before or after you send your UCAS form.

If you miss an LNAT deadline

The LNAT Consortium says an application to an LNAT university without a test taken in time will be rejected, and you would apply again the following year. Universities won’t waive the LNAT because you didn’t know about it, forgot to register or expected your school to do it. King’s College London says it can’t consider your application further. The University of Bristol says it may extend its deadline in exceptional circumstances if you contact its law admissions team.
