Before you book the OET exam
- Check what the organisation you’re applying to accepts: its minimum grades, the delivery modes and whether results must come from one sitting.
- Check that your mode, profession, country and venue are available. Not every date and mode runs in every country.
- Register with a personal email, not a university or work one. Doctors applying to the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) have one exception, explained on the OET Medicine page.
- Have your ID ready. For paper you upload a photo that meets OET’s photo guidelines; for computer and OET@Home, an image of your ID.
How to book an OET test, step by step
- Search for a test near you on OET’s Book a test page, choosing the test type and country.
- Pick your profession, date and venue, then create your account or log in.
- Accept the Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy and Collection Notice. The Test Regulations sit inside the Terms.
- Enter your ID details and pay the full fee online.
- Look for the confirmation email with your invoice, test date and venue. If it doesn’t arrive within 24 hours, contact OET Support.
For paper tests, the venue emails your timetable up to 48 hours before. For computer tests, a reminder arrives 48 hours before Listening, Reading and Writing, and your Speaking confirmation number and password arrive no later than 24 hours before Speaking.
myOET or the OET Account: which login is yours?
myOET is the dashboard for OET on Paper. You book, defer and download your Statement of Results there, and your candidate number has 9 digits, starting with 20. The OET Account is for OET on Computer and OET@Home, and its candidate numbers have 8 digits. Organisations verify your results through the matching portal.
Can you reschedule an OET booking?
Yes, with a fee that rises once booking closes. On paper you defer in myOET up to 11:59 pm local time the day before the test. There’s no late option, and a deferral can’t be reversed. On computer and OET@Home you reschedule in your OET Account up to 48 hours before your first sub-test, and moving Listening, Reading and Writing means moving Speaking too.
Some changes need a cancellation and a new booking instead: moving a computer or OET@Home test to another country, switching from paper to computer, and any test bought with a discount code. Once you’ve sat one sub-test, the rest can’t be moved.
One booking per test administration
The Test Regulations allow one booking per test administration, across all delivery modes. Holding two, for example paper and computer for the same period, may cost you part of your refund.
