How to find an OET test centre near you
- Open Book a test on oet.com and search for a test near you.
- Choose your test type (paper or computer) and your country.
- Look through the dates and venues listed for your profession, and note each booking closing date.
Not every mode or date runs in every country. If there’s no venue in your country, OET@Home may be open to you.
What ID does an OET test centre accept?
Bring the same ID you booked with. What’s accepted depends on how you sit the test:
- Every mode: a valid passport showing your full name, date of birth, photo and expiry date
- Paper: a valid national ID issued by the government of the country you’re testing in
- Computer test and OET@Home: a national ID that isn’t in English needs a certified translation alongside the original
- Not accepted: a driver’s licence
- Refugee and asylum candidates in the UK: eVisas haven’t been accepted as ID since 28 January 2025
If there’s a problem with your ID, OET can withhold your results until it’s verified. OET’s test day page gives you 30 calendar days from the test to send the documents, while its Test Regulations give five calendar days from when OET contacts you, so send them as soon as you’re asked.
What you can’t take into the test room
- Bags, notes, study materials or dictionaries
- Phones, smartwatches, cameras, recorders or other electronics
- Highlighters, mechanical pens or pencils, scrap paper or correction fluid
- Heavy coats; light layers you take off go on the back of your chair
Plain water in a clear plastic bottle with the label removed is allowed, as are snacks and medication approved before test day. The full list of what to bring is on the main OET page.
Paper centres and computer venues compared
At a paper centre you sit all four sub-tests on one day. Listening uses noise-cancelling headphones the centre provides, and Speaking is face to face with an interlocutor in a private room. At a computer venue you take Listening, Reading and Writing on screen, and Speaking is on another day, from home or, in some countries, at the venue.
Listening, Reading and Writing run back to back with no scheduled breaks. On paper you can go to the bathroom during Reading Part B and Writing, except in the first and last 10 minutes, and the clock doesn’t stop.
Special arrangements on test day
If you have a disability or a health condition, permanent or temporary, ask for special arrangements while you book. Requests close 18 business days before a computer or OET@Home test, and at the booking closing date for paper. OET can offer extra time, supervised breaks, help with reading or writing, modified materials, enlarged print for Listening, Reading and Writing, and, with enough notice, Braille. Lip-reading versions of Listening are available on paper. You need OET’s confirmation before the test.
