Who accepts OET Medicine?
OET’s page for doctors names these medical regulators:
- General Medical Council (GMC), UK
- Medical Council of Ireland
- Ahpra and the Medical Board of Australia
- Medical Council of New Zealand
- Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), USA
- Medical Council of Canada, and the Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons of nine provinces
Each sets its own grades. The Australian scores are on the Australia page; the GMC publishes its rules on its own website.
Other ways doctors can meet Australia’s English standard
Besides the five accepted English tests, Ahpra says the Medical Board of Australia accepts two profession-specific exams for registration as a medical practitioner: the New Zealand Registration Examination (NZREX) and the Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) test.
OET Medicine and ECFMG
If you’re applying for ECFMG certification, register your OET account with the same email address you use with ECFMG, whether it’s personal or not. That’s OET’s one exception to its personal-email rule.
Preparing for OET Medicine
OET offers a free Intro to OET Medicine course, and Medicine sample tests in both modes, four of them on computer. Partner courses for doctors are on the study options page.
