Do OET exam fees change by country?
On OET’s own fee list there are two prices: AU$587 everywhere, and US$455 for the computer test and OET@Home in the United States. OET lists them in Australian and US dollars only, not in pounds, rupees or euros. Its handbook adds that fees can vary with the country, the mode and whether you book the full test or single sub-tests, so check the price on the booking screen.
A test bought with a discount code or at a discounted price can’t be rescheduled or moved to another venue; you have to cancel, with the cancellation fee taken off, and book again.
What you get back if you cancel
You cancel the whole booking, never part of it, and a cancellation can’t be undone. Before the booking closing date OET keeps AU$120; after it, AU$200. On computer and OET@Home you can cancel up to 48 hours before your test starts and not once you’ve sat a sub-test. On paper you can cancel up to one week before: for a Saturday test the last chance for a refund is 11:59 pm local time on the Sunday before, and for a Friday test the Saturday before.
Miss the test without cancelling and you get nothing back, unless you can show extenuating circumstances. You have five business days to send OET Support your evidence.
Fees that other bodies set
Registration, assessment and visa fees aren’t OET’s. The Nursing and Midwifery Council, the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra), the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland and visa offices each set and publish their own. One example: the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland says its assessment fee isn’t refunded if you apply without meeting its English requirements.
