Official AAMC MCAT prep: the free tests, the outline and the bundle

The AAMC sells all of its paid practice in one AAMC MCAT bundle, the Online-Only Bundle: 13 products and 2,876 questions for $336.15, with access for 365 days. It’s free with an approved Fee Assistance award. Before you buy anything, use the free half of the official prep: two full-length exams, the content outline and a few short question sets.

Free official practice

  • Unscored Sample Test: 230 questions, the same length and features as the real exam, without a scaled score or percentile.
  • Practice Exam One: 230 questions from past MCAT exams, with a scaled score and percentile rank.
  • MCAT Sample Question Guide: 12 questions, three from each section.
  • Practice with Exam Features tool: 12 example questions to learn the screens and the keyboard shortcuts.
  • The online Content Outline Course: the outline with links to open textbooks and Khan Academy lessons, plus 120 questions from the retired Official Guide.

Is there a free MCAT diagnostic test?

Not under that name. The AAMC’s own study plan advice is to take the free Unscored Sample Test as your baseline and use the Content & Skills Breakdown on its report to find your gaps. Practice Exam One then gives you your first scaled score. The diagnostics sold as such come from prep companies, not the AAMC.

What’s in the AAMC MCAT bundle?

  • Practice Exams 2 to 6: five full-length exams of 230 questions each, from previously given MCAT exams.
  • Section Bank Volumes 1 and 2: 300 questions each, 100 from each science section.
  • CARS Question Bank: 575 passage-based questions, 166 of them new.
  • Biology Question Pack Volumes 1 and 2: 120 questions each.
  • Chemistry Question Pack and Physics Question Pack: 120 questions each.
  • Independent Question Bank: 150 questions.

The AAMC Store lists the bundle at $336.15, down from $405. Each product is also sold on its own.

Old MCAT exams and PDFs

The official practice exams are online products, built from questions on past exams. The free PDFs on the AAMC’s pages are the What’s on the MCAT Exam? outline and the periodic table you’ll see on screen. What the outline covers is on our subjects page.

The MCAT Essentials: the rules you agree to

The MCAT Essentials for Testing Year 2027, effective fall 2026, is the official guide to registration, ID, test-day rules and scoring. The AAMC calls it required reading, and you agree to it when you register. The version in effect when you register is the one that applies to your test.
