How does MCAT registration work?
- Sign in with your AAMC ID, or create one if you’ve never had one. If you forget your password, recover it. Don’t make a second ID, which the AAMC treats as a registration violation.
- If you’ll need Fee Assistance, get approved first. The lower fees aren’t applied to an exam you’ve already paid for.
- Enter your first and last names exactly as they appear on the ID you’ll bring, with no nicknames or initials. If they don’t match on test day, you can’t test and it counts as a no-show.
- Answer the registration questions about your contact details, background and education, and accept the Examinee Agreement.
- Pick a date and test center and pay. You can hold only one MCAT appointment at a time.
- Watch for a confirmation email. If none arrives within 24 hours, the booking didn’t go through, so book again.
Who can register
You must be preparing to apply to a health professions program that accepts MCAT scores, and you agree to that when you register. Some people need special permission first. Our requirements page has the details.
Rescheduling or cancelling
You can move or cancel your appointment in the MCAT Registration System, or cancel by calling Pearson, up to 10 days before your test. You’ll get an email confirming a cancellation; if it doesn’t come within 24 hours, the cancellation didn’t go through.
If you neither cancel nor show up, you lose the attempt and the whole fee. The reschedule fees and refunds by date are on our cost page.
Deadlines to know
- Booking, changes and cancellations close 10 days before your test, at 11:59 p.m. local test center time. The AAMC doesn’t extend deadlines.
- Name changes must also be made at least 10 days before.
- If your ID won’t match or you’re unsure it’s acceptable, you can file an ID Exception Request between three and 10 days before the exam. None are accepted in the last three days.
- If you need accommodations, you must be approved and have your scheduling request in with Pearson at least 15 days before your test.
Each date’s own deadlines are listed with the 2027 test dates.
