Nebraska DMV testing locations

You can take the permit test at any Nebraska DMV driver licensing office, not only the one in your county. Six offices, two in Omaha and one each in Lincoln, Bellevue, Grand Island and Norfolk, take appointments, while some county offices open only on certain days. Nebraska DMV testing locations are listed by county on DMV’s locations table, which is the place to check hours before you go.

Each is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and takes online appointments, which DMV requires for car and motorcycle drive tests and strongly recommends for everything else. Walk-in help is limited. At a service center you pay the examiner, so there’s no separate trip to the county treasurer. The Douglas and Sarpy County treasurer branches don’t offer driver licensing.

Closings

Offices can close for weather, staffing or other problems, and every state office closes on state holidays. DMV’s closings list shows the driver licensing offices in Nemaha, Colfax, Stanton and Pierce counties closed for long periods from April 30, 2026, so you’d use another county’s office. Check the list on the day you plan to go.
