Insurance adjuster license lookup, state by state

Each state keeps its own records, so you search the state that issued the license. For an insurance adjuster license lookup in Texas you use Sircon's inquiry form, in Florida the DFS licensee search, and in California the Department of Insurance's Check a License tool.

Getting a copy of your own license

  • Florida: once approved, you print your license from the Wallet or Letter links in your MyProfile account.
  • New York: DFS doesn't mail paper licenses. You print yours online.
  • North Carolina: you get an email when the license is issued, with instructions for one free print.

Checking an adjuster who contacts you

If someone offers to handle your claim for a fee, they need a public adjuster license, not just an adjuster license. Search their name, then check the license type.

A missing record doesn't always mean someone is unlicensed. Georgia, for example, doesn't license salaried staff adjusters; their insurer registers them instead. Ask the insurer if you're unsure.
