New Brunswick practice permit test

This New Brunswick practice permit test has 20 free questions, ten on road signs and signal lights and ten on the rules of the road, the two written exams for a Class 7 Level 1 licence. They’re written from the Motor Vehicle Act and the province’s licensing pages. The province doesn’t publish the real pass mark, so we use our own bar here: 16 of 20, which is 80%. Pick an answer to see why it’s right.

Question 1 of 20

An emergency vehicle with a flashing red light and siren comes up behind you. What must you do?

20 practice questions in the style of the written test.

How close is this practice permit test to New Brunswick’s?

The real test is two written exams, road sign recognition and the rules of the road, online or at a Service New Brunswick centre. The province doesn’t say how many questions each one has. These 20 follow the same two subjects, half and half.

The questions are ours, not the province’s. Each answer comes from the Motor Vehicle Act or the province’s graduated licence and traffic sign pages, so check the handbook for anything else. Treat a good score as a sign you’re on track rather than a promise.

What to study after these 20 questions

The province’s study material is the New Brunswick Driver’s Handbook, in nine PDF parts. By their titles, Part 4 (Rules of the Road) and Part 7 (Traffic Signs) match the two exams. Go back to them for every question you missed.
