The Redbridge 11 plus

Redbridge's two grammar schools, Ilford County High School for boys and Woodford County High School for girls, share a GL Assessment test run by Redbridge Council. Only children living in the 11+ common catchment area can sit it. For 2027 entry, the Redbridge 11 plus was on Friday 18 September 2026, and results were emailed in mid October.

Who can sit it

Your child must live in the common catchment area shown on the council's map. To check, open Redbridge maps, choose "education", then "11+ common catchment area", and enter your postcode.

If your child needs special arrangements, tell the council when you register and send their primary school care plan.

The test

There are two papers: English and verbal reasoning, then maths and non-verbal reasoning. Your child must bring the completed photo ID form, or they can't sit the test. If the Redbridge test clashes with another school's entrance test on the same day, no other date is offered.

The council doesn't describe how scores are worked out, but it publishes total scores from past years. For practice it points to GL Assessment's free materials, and warns they may not match the real test's number, type or difficulty of questions.
