Oklahoma DMV appointments and online check-in

For the written test or a permit, Service Oklahoma has you check in online on the day you go and watch your place in line on the live wait time. So an Oklahoma DMV appointment for the written test means checking in online on the day. Drive tests work differently: each Drive Test Center has its own online waitlist, and if you're turning 16 you can request a Sweet Sixteen drive test in advance.

How to check in for the written test or your permit

  1. If you'd rather test at home, take the written test online first. You only need to visit once you've passed.
  2. On the day you go, open Service Oklahoma's online check-in.
  3. Choose the service "A. Learner's Permit/Class D Written Test".
  4. Pick a location and track your place in line. The vision test happens at the same visit, so you don't check in for it separately.
  5. Bring your documents, and a parent or guardian if you're under 18.

Can you make an Oklahoma DMV appointment for the drive test?

Yes, in two ways. The Drive Test Centers in Oklahoma City (7705 S Walker) and Broken Arrow (732 W New Orleans Street, Suite 144) each have their own waitlist, which you join online. If you're turning 16, the Sweet Sixteen Guarantee lets you request a guaranteed drive test on your 16th birthday or your first eligible date.

Designated examiners at approved driving schools also give drive tests, for a fee. You arrange those with the school.

An Oklahoma City DMV appointment

In Oklahoma City, drive tests run at the Drive Test Center on S Walker. For the written test, a permit or a license, use Service Oklahoma's location finder, choose the service and pick an office near you, then check in online on the day. Service Oklahoma says some locations open on Saturdays.

What to sort out before you go

  • Your documents, checked against Service Oklahoma's Required Documents page. Originals or certified copies only.
  • Two proofs of residency if you want a REAL ID. Service Oklahoma has an online REAL ID checklist.
  • A way to pay that your location accepts, since some take only cash, cashier's check, money order or credit card.
  • For a drive test: a car with a valid tag, working equipment and current insurance.
