Oklahoma DMV practice test and where to study

Service Oklahoma's own practice test is free in its Driver Study Hub. It has 20 multiple-choice questions based on the Oklahoma Driver Manual, the same length as the real written test. Service Oklahoma does the DMV's job in this state, so its quiz is the official Oklahoma DMV practice test, and the one to take first. Use it with the manual, and add an app or course from the list on this page if you want more questions.

How should you study with the Oklahoma DMV practice test?

  1. Download the Oklahoma Driver Manual from the Driver Study Hub. It's a large PDF, so use Wi-Fi.
  2. Read chapters 1 and 2 on permits, the Graduated Driver License and license restrictions.
  3. Learn the signs in chapter 4 by color and shape, then read right-of-way, lanes, speed, stopping and parking in chapters 5 to 9.
  4. Finish with sharing the road, driving tips, alcohol and drugs, and violations and penalties in chapters 10 to 13.
  5. Take Service Oklahoma's practice test and look up every question you miss in the manual.
  6. If you keep missing questions on one subject, reread that chapter before you book the real test.

Is there an answer key for the Oklahoma written driving test?

No official one. Service Oklahoma doesn't publish the real test's questions or answers, so lists sold as the real answers aren't from Service Oklahoma. The manual says the Class D questions are taken from it, which makes the manual the answer key that counts.

The Study Hub also has a short study guide called Overview of Oklahoma Driver License, written for both the written and the drive test.

Do you need driver's ed to study for the test?

Not to study, but at 15 you can't get a learner permit without being enrolled in an approved driver education course. From 16 it's optional. A completion certificate from a public school or commercial course can also waive the written test. A parent-taught course can't.

Choosing between free and paid help

The manual and Service Oklahoma's practice test cost nothing and come from the same source as the real test. Paid apps add their own question banks (Zutobi's Oklahoma page claims more than 600) and track what you miss, but their questions are their own, not Service Oklahoma's. The current manual is the 2025 edition, so check that an app's Oklahoma questions are up to date.

Parent-taught courses are a different kind of help: they're full driver education, with 30 hours of classroom work and 55 hours behind the wheel, and you pay the provider.
