GAMSAT test centres, remote proctoring and test day

You sit Humanities and Sciences together, in a morning or afternoon session, at one of the GAMSAT test centres in Australia, Ireland, the UK, New Zealand or Singapore. The essays are written at home by remote proctoring. If you live more than three hours’ drive from a centre, or in a country without one, you can apply to sit the whole test remotely.

The list for March 2027 comes with registration, and not every city runs every sitting. Within a window, some venues run only on some days, and the registration system only shows what’s still available. Where a city has more than one venue, ACER assigns you to one. Your Admission Ticket gives the address and your reporting time, and venue maps are on ACER’s registration page.

Rules inside the test centre

  • The centre supplies the computer; you can’t bring your own device.
  • Phones go off and into your bag or face up under your desk. Smart and digital watches, calculators, earbuds, pencil cases, rulers and food aren’t allowed near you.
  • You can use the bathroom during testing, except in the first and last ten minutes of each section, but you get no extra time.
  • You can eat in the break, but you can’t leave the venue.
  • Leaving before the Sciences section starts means no score. Leaving during it because of illness needs a medical certificate within three business days.

What to bring is listed on the GAMSAT overview.

Writing the essays by remote proctoring

ProctorU runs the remote sitting, watching through your webcam and a shared screen. You need a desktop or laptop (not a tablet or phone), a stable internet connection, a working webcam and microphone, the Guardian Browser and the ACER Test App. Hotspots and tethering aren’t supported, and headphones aren’t allowed unless the GAMSAT Office agrees.

Have your photo ID, a whiteboard and marker or two A4 sheets, a clear water bottle and a mirror, or your phone’s front camera, for the room check. The proctor doesn’t call time, so watch the test timer. You can use the bathroom, but the clock keeps running. If you’re not there within about 15 minutes of your start time, you’re marked as a no-show.

Sitting the whole GAMSAT remotely

Remote sittings for Humanities and Sciences are only for people more than three hours’ drive from a test centre or in a country without one, and you apply under ACER’s Alternate Delivery Application Guidelines. ProctorU bookings for those sections made without ACER’s approval are cancelled.
