Carpenter Red Seal exam

The carpenter Red Seal exam has 100 multiple-choice questions, and framing is the biggest part at 20. Every other area has at least 10, so none is small enough to skip. Carpenter is a Red Seal trade in all 13 provinces and territories. Ontario calls it General Carpenter and Quebec Carpenter - Joiner.

The formula sheet

You get a formula sheet at the exam, and it's posted on the exam page in advance: area, circumference, the Pythagorean theorem, rafter rise and run, and cube and cylinder volume. On rafter and layout questions, the skill being tested is choosing the right formula and applying it.
