18th Edition mock test: 20 open-book questions

This free 18th Edition mock test has 20 multiple-choice questions on BS 7671:2018+A4:2026, spread across the eight learning outcomes of the 2382‑26 exam. Keep your copy of BS7671 open, as you can in the real test, and look each answer up. The real exam is 60 questions in 120 minutes, and City & Guilds hasn’t published its pass mark, so our own target is 15 of 20. Pick an answer to see why it’s right, and anything you miss comes back at the end.

Question 1 of 20

Using the way BS7671 numbers its regulations, what is Section 413?

20 practice questions in the style of the exam.

How close is this 18th Edition mock test to the real exam?

The questions are ours, not City & Guilds’, and there are 20, not 60. Half are on Part 4 and Part 5, which had the most questions in the 2382‑22 handbook (29 of 60), with fewer on scope, definitions and inspection. The 2382‑26 split may differ.

Each one asks you to find or apply a rule, so practise looking things up in the index and by regulation number. That’s the skill the open-book exam rewards.

Then try City & Guilds’ sample test

City & Guilds publishes a free 2382‑26 sample test that runs in your browser, and a paper version with a mark scheme. It comes from the body that sets the real exam, so take it under time once these 20 feel easy.
