What does this sign tell you?
20 practice questions in the style of the knowledge test.
How close is this Alabama driver's license practice test to the real one?
Same kind of questions, but no one outside ALEA knows the exact format. The real knowledge test is taken on a computer at a driver license office, and ALEA says it covers Alabama traffic laws, road signs and rules of safe driving, all from the Alabama Driver Manual. It doesn't publish how many questions you get or how many you need right.
So treat any site that sells the 'real' Alabama test with care. ALEA doesn't publish a question bank. What gets you through is knowing the manual, especially the numbers in Chapters 3 to 7.
Is there an official ALEA practice test?
Not as of October 2026. ALEA's driver license pages offer the manual, a one-page road test study guide and the motorcycle and CDL manuals, but no online practice quiz. That's why the free study options people use are the manual itself plus practice questions like these, or an app.
What the 20 questions cover
Six are sign and signal questions, with the sign shown. The other 14 are on Alabama's own numbers and rules: who can supervise a 15-year-old, the midnight to 6 a.m. limit for Stage II drivers, the 20-foot school bus rule, the 30 mph urban limit, the .02% limit under 21, texting fines and parking distances.
