TOEFL scores and the TOEFL score report

When do TOEFL scores come out?

To get scores at all, you must answer at least one question in Reading and in Listening, and respond to at least one Speaking task and one Writing task.

• At the end of the test: unofficial Reading and Listening scores, and the date to expect official ones. ETS says the official scores can differ.
• About 3 days after the test: official scores in your ETS account. For TOEFL iBT Australia, about 4 to 8 days.
• At schools: ETS says about 4 to 16 business days after the test, depending on how each one receives scores.

Is there a TOEFL certificate?

The document is your test taker score report, a PDF you download from your ETS account. It shows your 1 to 6 section and overall scores, your CEFR level, your MyBest scores and, until January 2028, a comparable 0-120 score. Schools and agencies can check scores through ETS directly: if you give one your appointment number and date of birth, it can verify them in the ETS Data Manager.

How do you send your TOEFL score report to schools?

Your fee includes up to 4 score reports. Add, change or delete those schools until 10 p.m., local test center time, on the day before your test. After that, each extra report costs US$29, ordered in your ETS account, and orders can't be changed or refunded.

Your MyBest scores combine your best score in each section from all valid tests in the last 2 years.

How long are TOEFL scores valid?

Two years from the test date. ETS won't report or verify scores older than that.

If you cancel your scores at the end of the test, you can reinstate them within 60 days for US$20, and they're reported about 3 weeks after ETS gets your request. You can ask for a Speaking or Writing score review within 30 days of the test, but not once you've sent scores to a school.
