WA driving test practice for the theory test

This WA driving test practice is for the Computerised Theory Test, the one you sit for your learner’s permit. It has 20 free questions written from Drive Safe, the DTMI handbook. The real test has 30 questions and needs 24 right, so here 16 of 20, the same 80%, is a pass. Pick an answer to see why it’s right, and anything you miss comes back at the end.

Question 1 of 20

You’re driving on your learner’s permit. What must your blood alcohol concentration (BAC) be?

20 practice questions in the style of the theory test.

How close is this WA driving test practice to the real test?

The real test has 30 multiple-choice questions on WA road rules, taken on a computer at a DTMI centre, with no phone and no handbook. These 20 are ours, not DTMI’s. They test the same rules from Drive Safe in different words, so a good score means you’re on track, not that you’ll pass.

They cover alcohol and phones, the learner rules, speed limits and following distances, lines and signals, intersections, lanes and overtaking, sharing the road, and stopping and parking. None of them show a road sign, so go over the signs in Drive Safe as well.

Then try DTMI’s road rules quizzes

DTMI has 11 free road rules quizzes for car learners, built from Drive Safe, and you can retake each one as often as you like. DTMI doesn’t say they use the same questions as the real test. Use them the way you use these 20: find the gaps, then read that part of the handbook.
