Outside the US, you take the same digital SAT on the same weekend dates, at an international test center. You register online in My SAT, just like students in the US. As of October 2026, the international SAT test costs $68 plus a $43 international fee.

International SAT dates

They’re the same as in the US. As of October 2026, the dates left are November 7 and December 5, 2026, then March 6, May 1 and June 5, 2027. Sunday testing, for students who can’t test on Saturday for religious reasons, isn’t available in India or Pakistan.

What ID do you need outside the US?

If you travel to another country to take the SAT, you need a valid passport. The only other option is a US Department of War Common Access Card (CAC). Some countries have their own rules:

  • India: a valid passport, a CAC, or an Aadhaar PVC card. It must be the hard card, not a printout, copy, screenshot or e-card.
  • Pakistan: a valid passport or a Pakistan national ID card.
  • Nigeria: a valid passport, a physical National Identity Number (NIN) card, or a CAC.
  • Ghana: a valid passport, a Ghana Card, or a CAC.
  • Nepal: a valid passport or a CAC.
  • Jordan, Korea, Thailand, the UAE and Vietnam: a national ID card from the country you’re testing in, a passport from any country, or a CAC.
  • Hong Kong (HKEAA centers): an unexpired government-issued photo ID. School IDs aren’t accepted.

Other rules to know

In Hong Kong, don’t contact your test center about registration. Questions go to the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority instead.

College Board can’t test people under US sanctions, unless the US government allows it. If a sanctioned person registers, the registration is canceled and the payment may not be refunded.

Fee waivers are for students in the US and US territories. If you go to school outside the US, you can only get one if you’re a US citizen.
