Who can get a Nevada ID?
Nevada residents aged 10 and older. You can’t hold a Nevada ID card and a driver’s license at once, even from different states. Seasonal residents who stay at least 31 days in a row each year and don’t work in Nevada may qualify, and their card is marked as licensed in another state. Tourists can’t get one.
Nevada state ID requirements
The documents match a license: one proof of identity, your Social Security number, proof of any name change and two proofs of your Nevada address. Fill in the Application for Driving Privileges or ID Card (DMV 002), in English, Spanish or Tagalog.
At the office your old card is hole-punched and handed back with a paper interim document, and the new card is mailed within 10 business days. If it hasn’t arrived in 30 days, contact the DMV.
REAL ID or standard card
- A REAL ID has a gold star in the upper right corner, on a Nevada outline or a circle with a star cutout.
- You need a REAL ID to board a domestic flight or enter secure federal buildings and nuclear power plants. A standard card can’t be used for those.
- A REAL ID must show your physical address. A standard card can show a mailing address.
- You apply for a REAL ID in person, with an appointment. Once you have one, renewals generally don’t need the documents again.

Nevada ID renewal
You can renew online in MyDMV at any age if your ID hasn’t been expired more than a year, you’re a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and your photo was taken within the last 8 years. You can renew from 60 days before it expires. A new photo, a change of name, address or other details, or a lost or stolen card means an office visit.
