What is a good UCAT score?

It depends on the universities you apply to, because each one uses the UCAT in its own way. The official 2026 figures show where a score sits: the UK average total was 1918 out of 2700, the middle score was 1920, and the 9th decile was 2250, so about 1 in 10 candidates scored above it. Use those numbers alongside each university's own entry information when you decide what a good UCAT score means for you.

Each decile is the score at or below which that share of candidates fell. A total of 2140, for example, sat at the 8th decile: about 80% scored that or less. To find your rough percentile, find the closest score in your column.

What is a good UCAT score for medicine or dentistry?

The Consortium doesn't define one. Some universities set a threshold you must reach and publish it, or show the scores they used in earlier years. Others weight your score with your grades, or only use it in close cases. So a score is good when it clears what your chosen universities ask for, and you'll find that on their own websites.
