How do you do the FTCE registration?
- Log in to your FTCE/FELE account, or create one if it’s your first time.
- Choose Register for the FTCE/FELE, pick your test, answer the background questions and agree to the testing policies.
- Under Open Registrations, choose Schedule and pick a test center, date and time.
- Review the order, pay, and select Submit Order.
- Look for the Pearson VUE appointment confirmation email with the test center address.
While you register you can choose a Florida college, university or Professional Learning Certification Program (PLCP) to receive your scores. The FTCE/FELE program strongly encourages it if you’re enrolled in one.
You need a Social Security number. If you don’t have one yet, the program tells you to enter 999‑99‑9999 and update it later, because your scores can’t be recorded for certification until you do.
Logging in to your FTCE/FELE account
The same account holds your registrations, appointments, score reports since January 2014 and your full testing history. If you forget your username or password, the login page has links to retrieve them. You can also update your name or Social Security number from the account.
FTCE/FELE Customer Service handles registration, payments, refunds, score reports and score verification. You can reach it through the email form or live chat on the program website, or by phone on (866) 613-3281, toll free in the US and Canada, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. eastern time, Monday to Friday except holidays.

Rule 6A-4.0021 sets one FTCE fee table with no separate retake fee, so a retake costs the same as a first attempt, subtest by subtest. The FELE fees are also the same for first attempts and retakes. Florida law says a full-battery retake can’t cost more than the first registration, and a subtest retake is priced in proportion to the number of subtests. The program’s fee page also lists $20 for clearing an account.
Fees are refunded if you cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment. If you miss the appointment, you lose the fee, though you can ask to move the registration to a later date after an illness, injury or death in your immediate family, with documents sent within 30 calendar days.
Fee waivers for first attempts
Florida law waives first-attempt test fees for these groups. You apply on the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) Certification Fee Waivers site, and the waiver shows in your FTCE/FELE account within 2 business days of approval, before you register:
- Active-duty or reserve service members, honorably discharged veterans, and their spouses or surviving spouses
- Retired law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians and paramedics
- Teachers with an Exceptional Student Education (ESE) K-12 certificate adding Elementary Education K-6, or the other way round
A waiver lasts five years, or until the document that proved it expires if that’s sooner, and it never covers retakes. A subtest you’ve registered for before counts as a retake, so register only for subtests you haven’t tried.
Some candidates get a voucher instead. State education agencies and educator preparation programs can buy vouchers that cover a test fee, for a first attempt or a retake, and hand them out. You apply a voucher as payment when you register, not afterwards, and it’s valid for one year from issue.
Test dates, rescheduling and canceling
There are no fixed test dates. Every test is offered by appointment, Monday to Saturday except holidays, and new slots can open as test centers update their calendars. To change the site, date or time, or to cancel, use your account at least 24 hours before your appointment; no changes are made by phone. To switch to a different test you cancel and register again.
On test day, arrive 30 minutes early with two forms of ID. The overview lists what to bring.
