Georgia permit practice test

This Georgia permit practice test has 20 free questions written from the DDS Drivers' Manual: 7 on signs, signals and lane markings, and 13 on rules like TADRA, school buses, speed and alcohol. The real knowledge exam is two tests of 20, with 15 needed on each. Here you pass with 15 right overall, including at least 6 of the 7 sign questions, so a weak signs score still sinks you, just as it does at DDS. Every answer is explained, and the ones you miss come back at the end.

20 practice questions in the style of the knowledge exam.

How close is this Georgia permit practice test to the real one?

Same style, half the length. At a DDS center you take a Road Signs test and a Road Rules test, 20 multiple-choice questions each, on a computer. You need 15 right on each test, and they're scored apart, so a perfect signs score won't rescue a weak rules score.

DDS doesn't publish its question bank, so no site can promise you the exact questions. Sites that claim to sell the answers are worth avoiding: DDS warns that many are after your personal details or your money. Knowing the manual is what gets you through.

The free DDS practice test

DDS has its own online practice test for non-commercial licenses and permits, with road signs and road rules questions. It's free and you can take it as often as you like. When you miss a question, look up that topic in the Drivers' Manual rather than just memorizing the answer.

Practicing for the CDL or motorcycle test instead?

These questions are for the car permit. DDS doesn't offer a CDL practice test, and its commercial tests come from the separate Commercial Driver's Manual. Our CDL page covers the commercial learner's permit and what it costs.

The motorcycle knowledge exam comes from the Georgia Motorcycle Operator Manual. A passing score is good for one year, so plan to take the rider skills test within that time or you'll take the knowledge exam again.
