How do you make a driving test booking in QLD?
TMR gives four options:
- Book and pay online
- Pay the booking fee at a customer service centre, then call 13 23 80 to book
- Call 13 23 80 and pay online
- Pay the fee and let your driver trainer book it for you
Online, you pay with a Visa or MasterCard, and the booking page says a 0.4% surcharge applies to credit cards. Centres take cash, cheques, money orders and cards. The fee is $69.40 as at 1 July 2026.
Before you can book
For a car test on a learner licence, you need to have passed the hazard perception test. If you're under 25, your logbook has to be approved first, and TMR asks you to submit it at least 12 business days before the test. If you're 25 or older, you don't need a logbook to book.
To get a P1 you also need to be 17 and to have held your learner licence for at least a year by the test date. If you hold an overseas or interstate licence, are a returning driver, or have a logbook exemption, the booking page asks you to contact TMR on 13 23 80 before you book.
Changing or cancelling your test
Reschedule at least 2 days before the test, online or by contacting TMR. To cancel, message TMR or call at least 2 business days before. Miss those windows and you lose the fee and pay a new one to rebook.
Saturday tests and interpreters
Saturday tests run at Caboolture, Greenslopes, Logan, Maroochydore, Southport and Zillmere, for the same fee as weekdays. If you pass on a Saturday and pay by EFTPOS, you get your licence that day. Heavy vehicle tests aren't available on Saturdays.
TMR provides an interpreter for free if you book one at least a week before your test, though not every location has one. You can also bring your own NAATI-approved interpreter.
Can you book the learners test in QLD?
TMR's driver tests page describes sitting the written road rules test in person at a customer service centre that does licensing. PrepL has no booking at all: you enrol online and start when you're ready. TMR doesn't say whether you need to book the written test, so call 13 23 80 before you go.
Motorcycle riding tests are booked differently too. Q-SAFE riding tests can't be booked online, so you call 13 23 80 or visit a centre.
