It's TMR's road rules handbook for all drivers, learners included, and the questions in the written road rules test come from it. TMR's driver tests page says the guide covers Queensland's road rules and licensing requirements and includes sample test questions. Where can you get Your keys to driving in Queensland?

TMR says you can download or buy it, but doesn't say where printed copies are sold. The download is linked from TMR's learner licence and driver tests pages on qld.gov.au.

What's in the handbook

TMR describes it as covering Queensland's road rules and its licensing requirements, and it includes sample test questions you can use to check yourself. qld.gov.au calls it the road rules handbook for all drivers, including learner drivers.

Is the Queensland road rules PDF up to date?

For a rule you need to be sure about, check qld.gov.au too. It sets out the current road rules topic by topic, and TMR notes that some Queensland road rules differ from the Australian road rules. TMR also says fines and penalties went up by 3.5% on 1 July 2026, so check any dollar amount on qld.gov.au.

Reading it for the road rules test

Go to the road rules part first, and read the giving way pages twice. The test puts 10 giving way questions in a section of their own, and you need 9 of them right. The other 20 questions cover road rules and driver licence requirements, so the licensing requirements in the handbook matter too.
