Practice road rules test for QLD learners

Here are 20 free questions on giving way, traffic lights, roundabouts, lanes and the rules for learners, each with the answer explained. The real test has 30 questions and asks for 90%, so on this practice road rules test for QLD we count 18 out of 20 as a pass. Any you get wrong come back at the end for another go.

Question 1 of 20

You reach a crossroad with no traffic lights, signs or lines. Another car arrives at the same time on the road to your right. Who gives way?

20 practice questions in the style of the road rules test.

How close is this practice road rules test to the QLD one?

Close in style, not in wording. TMR doesn't publish the real questions. It says they come from Your keys to driving in Queensland, and that the test has two sections: 10 questions on giving way, where you need 9, and 20 on road rules and driver licence requirements, where you need 18. Ours are written from TMR's road rules pages on qld.gov.au, and 7 of the 20 are on giving way, so you get plenty of practice on the section with the least room for error.

Question sheets you find online aren't TMR material, so check any answer that surprises you against the handbook.

TMR's own practice options

TMR's driver tests page says you can take an online practice test to help you decide when you're ready, and that there are different practice tests for different licence classes. If you're doing PrepL instead, its assessments are built into the course and unlock as you finish each stage, before the final test.

Practising for the hazard perception test is a different thing. That test uses video clips, and TMR lets you practise before you start it.

Practising for a motorcycle or truck licence

These questions are for the car (class C) test. The motorcycle knowledge test also has 30 questions and needs 27, with extra questions drawn from the Queensland Motorcycle Riders' Guide. The heavy vehicle road rules test is shorter: 10 questions, and you need 8.
