Learner licence QLD cost, from the test to your Ps

Getting your Ls costs $109.85 if you pass first time: $29.70 for the written road rules test or PrepL, and $80.15 for a learner licence that lasts 3 years. Those are TMR's prices as at 1 July 2026. The learner licence QLD cost doesn't stop there, because the hazard perception test is $42.70 and the practical driving test is $69.40. TMR says there are no concessions on licence fees.

What does a learner licence cost in QLD?

You pay for the written test every time you sit it. PrepL is different: you pay once, and if you fail its final test you can try again after 24 hours without paying more.

ItemFee as at 1 July 2026
Written road rules test, each attempt$29.70
PrepL, the online course and test$29.70
Learner licence, 3 years$80.15
Replacement learner licence$37.40
Replacement paper learner logbook$25.90
Learner logbook exemption application$51.45

Hazard perception and driving test fees

The hazard perception test costs $42.70, for both the car and motorcycle versions, and you pay before you get access. Access lasts up to 12 months, and TMR says you can attempt it as many times as you like with no lock-out. It doesn't say whether one payment covers every attempt in that time, so check before you pay.

The practical driving test costs $69.40 for any class, and that includes GST. There's no limit on attempts, but you pay each time. You also lose the fee if you change your booking less than 2 days before, arrive late, haven't met the logbook rules, or bring a car that fails the inspection.

Paying for your P licence

When you pass the practical test, you pay for your provisional licence at the centre straight away. TMR prices provisional, probationary and open licences by how many years they run:

Licence lengthFee as at 1 July 2026
1 year$94.65
2 years$132.00
3 years$163.25
4 years$188.95
5 years$212.00

When you renew, the fee is set by the date your new licence period starts, not the day you pay.

Fees for other tests

The motorcycle and heavy vehicle road rules tests cost the same $29.70 as the car test. If you do the motorcycle knowledge test online, you pay only when you pass. Take it at a counter and you pay whether you pass or not.
