Is there an easiest CLEP exam?
Not officially. College Board doesn’t rank its exams, and it says scores shouldn’t be compared between subjects, because each exam is developed and evaluated on its own.
The easiest one for you is the subject you already know best. College Board describes CLEP as a way to earn credit for what you learned through independent study, on-the-job training or cultural pursuits, and it lists native speakers of a language among the people who use it.
Are CLEP exams hard in different ways?
- Pace: Humanities has about 140 questions in 90 minutes, Calculus 44.
- Writing: College Composition has two essays, and Spanish with Writing has two writing tasks.
- Listening: the French, German and Spanish exams play their audio once.
- Calculators: the math exams, Chemistry and Financial Accounting put one on screen.
What are CLEP pass rates?
College Board’s score guides explain the 20 to 80 scale but give no pass rates, so any CLEP pass rate you see online comes from someone else. A better guide is the exam’s own outline and free sample questions.
Remember too that passing means your college’s score, which can be higher than 50.
