Can you skip the Nevada Praxis Core test?
Yes, with any of these, under NAC 391.036:
- An SAT score of at least 1100.
- An ACT score of at least 21.
- A master’s degree or higher plus a GRE score at or above the midpoint of the range in effect when you took it.
Nevada accepts the current Core codes 5713, 5723 and 5733, the older ones, or a mix.
PLT and content tests
- The PLT comes in K-6, 5-9 and 7-12. A K-12 endorsement needs only one, at the level you choose.
- If you already hold a Nevada license and add an endorsement, its content test is waived.
- If you haven’t finished testing, you may get a non-renewable provisional license valid for three years.
- Administrators: the Department of Education says testing isn’t required for Nevada licensure.
How recent your scores must be
Nevada’s own pages disagree. Its testing requirements page says tests must be completed within ten years before you apply; its license provisions FAQ says five years, including out-of-state tests. Ask the department before you rely on an older score.
If you test in Nevada with a Nevada profile address, scores go to the department automatically; otherwise choose code 8670. The department doesn’t list subject scores itself; it points to ETS.
